Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 kg mutton bone-in
  • 1 cup ghee
  • 2 medium onions chopped
  • 1.5 tsp coriander powder
  • 1.5 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 3-4 pieces green cardamom
  • 5-6 pieces cloves
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
Spices
  • 8-10 pieces black pepper
  • 2-3 pieces cinnamon
  • 1-2 pieces javetri
  • 5 pieces jaiphal

Method
 

Step 1: Preparation
  1. Heat ghee in a clay pot and add chopped onions. Saute until they are lightly browned.
  2. Add coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric, salt, and green cardamom. Mix well.
Step 2: Cooking Mutton
  1. Add the mutton pieces to the pot and mix well with the spice mixture. Cook for 5 minutes.
  2. Add yogurt and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes.
Step 3: Adding Spices
  1. Add black pepper, cinnamon, javetri, and jaiphal to the pot. Mix well.
  2. Add 1-2 cups of water to the pot and bring to a boil.
Step 4: Cooking and Thickening
  1. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 1-1.5 hours, or until the mutton is tender.
  2. Add 1-2 tablespoons of ghee to the pot and mix well. Cook for another 5 minutes.
Step 5: Serving
  1. Serve the Degi Mutton Kunna hot, garnished with chopped fresh coriander.

Storage: refrigerate 3 days, freeze 2 months. Reheat on stovetop.
