Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 kg mutton cut into small pieces
  • 3 large onions sliced
  • 4 medium tomatoes chopped
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
Spices
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • 2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
For Garnish
  • 1/4 cup fresh coriander chopped
  • 2 tbsp green chillies sliced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Wash the mutton pieces and drain the excess water. Cut them into small pieces and set aside.
  2. Slice the onions and separate the layers. Chop the tomatoes and set aside.
Marination
  1. In a large bowl, combine the mutton pieces, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Mix well and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated mutton pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
Cooking
  1. Add the sliced onions to the pan and cook until they are translucent. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft.
  2. Add 1 cup of water to the pan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the mutton is tender.
  3. Add the garam masala powder and stir well. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
Final Touches
  1. Garnish the dish with chopped fresh coriander, sliced green chillies, and a squeeze of lemon juice.
  2. Serve the Mutton Karahi hot with naan or rice.
