Preparation
- Wash the mutton pieces and drain the excess water. Cut them into small pieces and set aside.
- Slice the onions and separate the layers. Chop the tomatoes and set aside.
Marination
- In a large bowl, combine the mutton pieces, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Mix well and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated mutton pieces and cook until they are browned on all sides.
Cooking
- Add the sliced onions to the pan and cook until they are translucent. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they are soft.
- Add 1 cup of water to the pan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the mutton is tender.
- Add the garam masala powder and stir well. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
Final Touches
- Garnish the dish with chopped fresh coriander, sliced green chillies, and a squeeze of lemon juice.
- Serve the Mutton Karahi hot with naan or rice.
