Chapli Kabab Recipe

Chapli Kabab is a popular Pakistani dish originating from Sawat, made with minced meat and spices. It is a flavorful and tender kabab that is often served with naan or rice. This recipe is a restaurant-style version of the dish.

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 kg mutton or beef mince
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes finely chopped
Spices
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
Garnish
  • fresh coriander chopped
  • lemon wedges
  • 2 large eggs

Method
 

Step 1: Preparation
  1. Take 1 kg of mutton or beef mince and mix it well with your hands or a wooden spoon.
  2. Add 1 large onion, finely chopped, to the mince and mix well.
Step 2: Adding Spices
  1. Add 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of coriander powder, 1 tsp of cumin powder, 1/2 tsp of red chili powder, 1/2 tsp of garam masala powder, and 1/4 tsp of black pepper to the mince and mix well.
  2. Add 2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped, to the mince and mix well.
Step 3: Shaping Kababs
  1. Divide the mince mixture into 4-6 portions, depending on the size of kabab you prefer.
  2. Shape each portion into a round or oval shape, about 1/2 inch thick.
Step 4: Cooking Kababs
  1. Heat a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat and add a little oil to it.
  2. Place the shaped kababs in the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and golden brown.
  3. Serve the kababs hot with naan, rice, or your favorite sides.

Notes

Storage: refrigerate 3 days, freeze 2 months. Reheat on stovetop. Pro tip from video: mix the ingredients well for better flavor.
